Energy is a useful resource that is needed to get you through your day in Stardew Valley. The energy is used for using tools (except for scythes, weapons, and the copper pan), and just going through your day.
It is essential for you to have some energy to go through your day otherwise you will faint. Even trivial tasks like picking up or transporting a chest with your empty hands consume energy.
Energy can be regained and even indefinitely increased by a number of ways in Stardew Valley. The ways include sleeping, buying food that increases your energy from the shops, getting energy boost medicines from Harvey and more. These ways can help you regain your energy temporarily for the day. Some of the items can even help you increase the maximum energy capacity of your character.
In this guide, we will be going into detail about the ways you can go about regaining your energy in Stardew Valley, increasing the capacity and minimizing the energy loss. So make sure to keep reading!

How Do You Lose Energy In Stardew Valley?
In Stardew Valley, you can lose energy in several ways. Every day you wake up to do regular tasks, and while doing those tasks, your energy gets depleted. Those regular tasks can include:
- Tilling soil
- Catching fishes
- Clearing the farm
- Planting crops
- Exploring the mines
- Just walking and running through the town
These will each individually cost you the vast majority of your daily energy at first. Fortunately, you can permanently improve your energy by increasing your skill level (and therefore decreasing the energy cost of tools).
You can also increase the maximum value of your energy by using some items. We will be going into details about them down below.

How To Regain Energy In Stardew Valley?
There are several ways you can regain energy in Stardew Valley. These ways include the following:
1. Sleeping At Your House
Sleeping at your house replenishes the player’s starting energy level for the next day. If you go to bed before 12 AM, it will replenish your energy to its peak the next day.
The quantity of energy restored can be lowered if the player goes to sleep late, passes out, or is weary, so you need to make sure to go to sleep on time. If the player falls asleep exhausted, sleep relieves the exhaustion but reduces energy regeneration by 50%.
If the player goes to sleep after 12:00 AM, energy regeneration is significantly lowered. This decrease stacks with the depleted penalty in an additive manner so it is important to take care of sleeping on time.
2. Leveling Up A Skill
When you level up your skill in Stardew Valley, the next morning your energy will be fully replenished. When your professions at the Statue of Uncertainty change as well, you will wake up with fully replenished energy the next following day.
3. Being Idle In Certain Situations
If the player has not moved in the last 100ms while resting in the spa or swimming, their energy and health will increase by one every 100ms until they reach the maximum energy threshold.
When you are playing multiplayer, being in your bed replenishes your energy by 500ms until it reaches the maximum threshold.
4. Getting Food Or Drink from Joja Mart or Stardrop Saloon
Food and drinks can prove to be one of the most effective ways to regain energy in Stardew Valley. Food and drinks can either have a positive effect or a negative effect on your energy.
You can buy something like a Fried Egg, which will increase your energy. Be wary of the foods that can decrease your energy though. Sap is one of the food items that can decrease your energy.
Drinking a cup of Stardrop Tea will also restore your energy by 50. To make Stardrop Tea, gather Dandelions and Leek and use them to make the Stardrop Tea.
Increasing energy over zero (for example, by eating food) restores your mobility and allows you to do much more for the rest of the day. On doing this though, you will stay weary for the rest of the day.
There is no indication of this lingering tiredness in-game, however, it leads to a 50% drop in energy restoration that night. This aftereffect can be prevented by treating tiredness with Muscle Remedy or (if married) kissing the player’s spouse for the first time that day.

When you reach 0 energy, an X dialogue bubble will appear over your head with the message “You feel sluggish from over-exertion.” Your movement speed will be slowed greatly, and Fishing Poles can no longer be tossed.
Other energy-intensive equipment can be utilized, but your energy drops. The player goes out at -15 energy, therefore ending the day. If the player gets unconscious anywhere outside the home, they will lose 10% of their money, up to a maximum of 1,000 gold.
