Universal gifts are those that have the same impact on every recipient. There are five different types of universals, including universal loves, universal likes, and universal dislikes. There are three universal feelings: neutrality, dislike, and hatred.
The majority of villagers have at least one trait that deviates from these generalizations. For instance, Haley despises Prismatic Shard despite the fact that it is a Universal Love; consequently, gifting Prismatic Shard to any other villager results in a significant increase in their happiness; however, if it is given to Haley, it will have the opposite effect.
Loved gifts are the ones that are extremely loved by the NPC, and these gifts increase the friendship levels the most. The friendship level increased by a Loved Gift is +80 on a normal day. It gets to +400 on a Winter Star and +640 on an NPC’s birthday.
These gifts are only liked by the NPCs, like a meh feeling. The friendship level increased by a Liked Gift is +45 on a normal day. It is +225 on Winter Star and +360 on a Birthday.
Neutral gifts are neither liked nor disliked by the NPC. These gifts increase the friendship level by +20 on a normal day, +100 on Winter Star and +160 on Birthdays.
The villagers do not like these gifts and should not be given to any NPC because these can result in deducted friendship points. The friendship points decreased by a Disliked Gift is -20 on a normal day, -100 on Winter Star and -160 on Birthdays.
These gifts are extremely hated by the NPCs and deduct the friendship points by a great amount. The friendship points are decreased by -40 on a normal day, -200 on Winter Star and -320 on Birthdays.
In conclusion, You can gift an NPC by just right-clicking on them, however, you need to be careful with what gifts you are giving to the NPC as there are different types of gifts which consist of Disliked and Hated Gifts which can deduct your friendship points.
