Elden Ring is a beautiful and gripping game with a story that will wrap around your body and strangle the admiration out of you. There were indeed some moments in the game that left us awe-struck as we said, “This is it!”.
Elden Ring has much to offer to the player. From a beautiful narrative and deep lore to a diverse combat and build system so you can be your most authentic self as you battle your way to greatness.
Perhaps one of the best aspects of Elden Ring is the sheer abundance of weapons to play around with. You can hack away elegantly using a katana or quite literally crush an enemy with a disproportionate sword that is twice your character’s body weight. However, not all weapons are built alike. Here is a list of some of the best scaling weapons in Elden Ring.
There are many weapons in Elden Ring that scale extremely well and have the potential to reach A or even S rank scaling. These are the weapons you want to keep an eye out for. Here is a list of some of our favorite weapons with exceptional scaling (in no particular order of ranking and strength):
- Warped Axe
- Parrying Dagger
- Ripple Blade
- Nightrider Glaive
- Urumi
- Uchigatana
- Iron Greatsword

Best Scaling Weapons
Weapons scaling in Elden Ring, much like its FromSoftware predecessors, is a direct indicator of the quality of the weapon in a way. The scales are the alphabets you see in the item description of Elden Ring’s weapons.
These can be E, D, C, B, A, or S linked to certain attributes like Strength and Dexterity. Pouring more levels into that certain skill ensures that your weapon increases its scaling and reaches its full potential.
Different weapons scale with different attributes. For example, a great Strength-scaling weapon with an initial C rank has the potential to become an A-tier weapon upon further stat investment.
The same is true for weapons that scale with other attributes like Dexterity or Arcane. Our list includes a variety of well-scaling weapons for all kinds of players. Let’s get right to it!
1. Warped Axe
- Physical Attack: 118
- Weight: 7.5
- Scaling: STR – C
- Required: 24 STR, 8 DEX
- Description: Oversized double-headed axe with a bizarre, almost melted appearance.
Brute strength is the only thing required to wield this weapon, which appears to have taken quite the beating itself.
Kicking off our list with a beast of a weapon, we have the Warped Axe. The Warped Axe is an Axe in Elden Ring that scales primarily with Strength. The Warped Axe can be obtained by defeating Omens carrying the weapon.
It is a rare drop with only about a 4.00 % chance of dropping upon defeating an Omen. You can get it by taking on the Omens in Cliffbottom Catacombs, Altus Plateau, and in the Subterranean Shunning-Grounds.
The Warped Axe is a brilliant weapon. Not only does it deal brutal raw damage, but it has excellent Strength scaling. Even at the initial acquisition, it has a rating of C whereas most other weapons have D or E scaling at first.
This is for all of you who love heavy hitters and want to smash some enemy skulls in. The Weapon Skill War Cry increases the dealt damage even more. Need we go on? It’s an excellent weapon with a unique moveset and you should give it a go.
2. Parrying Dagger
- Physical Attack: 75
- Weight: 1.5
- Scaling: STR – E, DEX – C
- Required: 5 STR, 15 DEX
- Description: A knife with curved handguards. Designed to parry, turning foes’ attacks against them.
For the master of combat who anticipates every enemy strike and counters accordingly, this weapon is all they need.
Next up, we have the Parrying Dagger. The Parrying Dagger is a Dagger in Elden Ring that scales primarily with Strength and Dexterity. It is a lightweight but useful weapon if you get accustomed to playing with it.
The Parrying Dagger is Sold by Patches at Murkwater Cave for 1600 Runes after he sets up shop. Alternatively, it can be purchased from the Twin Maiden Husks at Roundtable Hold after giving them the Patches Bell Bearing.
The Parrying Dagger is an excellent weapon for Dexterity players. It has a C scaling linked to the Dexterity attribute and has the potential to reach an A-tier weapon once you invest more in Dexterity.
As the name indicates, the Parrying Dagger comes equipped with the Parry Skill that will save you a shield and provide you great damage for a Dexterity weapon. If you are good at parries, this is the way to go. Obliterate your enemies with devastating ripostes and parry your way to the endgame!

3. Ripple Blade
- Physical Attack: 70
- Weight: 4.5
- Scaling: ARC – A
- Required: 11 STR, 11 DEX, 20 ARC
- Description: Unique weapon wielded by young Albinaurics, this sword is modeled after the ripples that are thought to be the origin of their species.
Its attack power is greatly enhanced with one’s arcane attribute.
The Ripple Blade is an Axe in Elden Ring and one of our favorite weapons on today’s list. It scales only with Arcane (and phenomenally well, might we add) and can be bought off Pidia, Carian Servant at Caria Manor on a balcony above the Manor Lower Level bonfire.
Only accessible by dropping down the cliffs from the southwestern side of the Three Sisters sub-area. Alternatively, it can be bought from the Twin Maiden Husks at Roundtable Hold after offering them Pidia’s Bell Bearing.
Where do we begin with this? First of all, the Ripple Blade looks absolutely stunning. It is a great weapon for Elden Bling lovers. The weapon has an A-tier Arcane scaling that can only go up. It deals immense damage and if you are running a pure Arcane or hybrid build, the Ripple Axe is for you.
Aside from great damage, the Wild Strikes weapon skill allows you to go ham and destroy any foe that dares stand up against you. Have fun taking this out for a swing. Pair it with some powerful spells to basically shatter everything.
4. Nightrider Glaive
- Physical Attack: 129
- Weight: 12.0
- Scaling: STR – C, DEX – E
- Required: 26 STR, 10 DEX
- Description: A jet-black glaive with a blade as weighty as a bludgeon. Weapon of the Night’s Cavalry who ride funeral seeds.
This glaive excels at weighty slash attacks that crash into foes, making it a powerful weapon even on horseback.
Taking a step back to some excellent Strength scaling weapons, we have the Nightrider Glaive. It is a Halberd in Elden Ring that scales primarily with Strength and Dexterity. The Nightrider Glaive is dropped by the Night’s Cavalry wandering the road between East Raya Lucaria Gate and Bellum Church.
The Nightrider Glaive is a fantastic weapon for Strength players. It is less chunky and way more elegant as compared to other Strength weapons. It scales really well with Strength and becomes a powerhouse after you have invested enough levels into the Strength attribute. Combining heavy hits with (slightly) more flexible movement in comparison to others heavy weapons, the Nightrider Glaive is a solid choice that is only made more prominent by the good Strength scaling. Using the weapon on horseback proves to be highly efficient and the Spinning Slash weapon skill is great for blazing out crowds with a single hit. Take it for a spin, literally!
5. Urumi
- Physical Attack: 101
- Weight: 3.0
- Scaling: STR – E, DEX – C
- Required: 10 STR, 19 DEX
- Description: This weapon is made of extremely thin, flexible blades of metal is wielded like a whip by Nightfolk warriors.
Though in essence a whip with a cutting edge, it can also be used as a spear to pierce foes.
Ok but… how cool does Urumi sound, right? Urumi is a Whip in Elden Ring that scales primarily with Strength and Dexterity. It is a lightweight weapon packing a punch to keep your foes at bay.
The Urumi can be found at Caria Manor. It is on a body on the southeast ramparts, reached by jumping from the higher ramparts leading to the elevator and the Manor Upper-Level Site of Grace.
Whips are great and fun weapons to use in general, but the Urumi means business. It is fantastic for quality and Dexterity builds and makes for an exceptional secondary weapon. The compact space it takes up in your equipment load is doing you any favors.
The Kick weapon skill will break down an enemy’s guarding stance and leave them vulnerable. You can then proceed to whip them into shape, horrible pun intended.

6. Uchigatana
- Physical Attack: 115
- Weight: 5.5
- Scaling: STR – D, DEX – D
- Required: 11 STR, 15 DEX
- Description: A katana with a long single-edged curved blade.
A unique weapon wielded by the samurai from the Land of Reeds.
The blade, with its undulating design, boasts extraordinary sharpness, and its slash attacks cause blood loss.
Next up, we have another favorite of ours. The Uchigatana is a Katana in Elden Ring that scales primarily with Strength and Dexterity. It deals both Slashing and Piercing type damage. The Uchigatana is the starting weapon for the Samurai Class and can alternatively be found inside the Deathtouched Catacombs in Stormhill, Limgrave.
You need to turn the lever down in order to unlock the door of one of the previous halls. You will find the Uchigatana on a dead body hanging over the edge of the platform.
The Uchigatana is great because of the sheer quality it offers in addition to superb scaling. The humble appearance does not do the raw nature of the Uchigatana justice. This elegant weapon is equipped to tear down the biggest and baddest in pure style.
The passive Blood Loss status effect is great against many tough enemies and even bosses. The Unsheathe weapon skill will give your enemies a hard time as you launch at them with a swift slash attack.
7. Iron Greatsword
- Physical Attack: 149
- Weight: 12.0
- Scaling: STR – C, DEX – E
- Required: 18 STR, 10 DEX
- Description: Greatsword with a blade of unusually thick steel.
A coarse weapon to which polishing is a foreign concept.
Weighty even among others of its class, the impact of each strike is sure to be felt.
The Iron Greatsword is one of the several members of the Greatsword family, scaling primarily with Strength and Dexterity. It is a possible drop from the two red-maned Misbegotten in Leyndell, Royal Capital, in the ash-covered path leading toward the Forbidden Lands.
It is also a possible drop from the red-maned Misbegotten in Miquella’s Haligtree, north of the Haligtree Town Plaza Site of Grace.
The Iron Greatsword is hard to come by because it is a rare drop from a challenging enemy. However, acquiring it will definitely pay off in the long run. The Strength scaling on the Iron Greatsword is great.
This bulky beast will chop down enemies for you left and right with powerful swings and relatively slow follow-ups. The Stamp (Upward Cut) weapon skill is useful for breaking guards and sending enemies flying. If you like heavy weapons, this is a worthy option fit for a boss.
8. Nagakiba
- Physical Attack: 115
- Weight: 7.0
- Scaling: STR – D, DEX – C
- Required: 18 STR, 22 DEX
- Description: Katana with a ferociously long blade.
The signature weapon of Yura, hunter of Bloody Fingers.
Reminiscent of a reinforced spear, its imposing length can be put to good use with powerful thrusting attacks.
Ah, yes. The Uchigatana’s sister. The Nagakiba is a Katana in Elden Ring that is quite similar to the Uchigatana. It scales primarily with Strength and Dexterity and makes for a superb quality weapon.
The Nagakiba can be obtained by defeating Bloody Finger Hunter Yura to the north of Murkwater Cave or in his camp near the Seaside Ruins Site of Grace. You can alternatively get your hands on the Nagakiba by completing his quest line at the Second Church of Marika.
We included both the Nagakiba and the Uchigatana because a lot of it comes down to personal preference. Both have great scaling with Dexterity and the Blood Loss buildup is no joke. You can decimate even bosses once you get the hang of these Katanas.
The Nagakiba compensates for the demanding stats with a longer range and more benefits in PvP as an overall quality weapon. It has the Unsheathe weapon skill, akin to its sister blade, the Uchigatana. Pouring points into Strength and Dexterity will pay off and this weapon can easily last you till the end of the game.

9. Cipher Pata
- Physical Attack: 0
- Weight: 0
- Scaling: FAI – C
- Required: 30 FAI
- Description: One of the weapons originating from the Two Fingers. A formless sequence of ciphers comprise its blade, and as such, no shield can repel it. Deals holy damage.
The furtive inscription appears to hang in the air; the language of light spoken by the Two Fingers.
If you wanted to feel close and personal with your unfortunate enemies, consider taking the Cipher Pata out for a spin. The Cipher Pata is a Fist in Elden Ring that scales with Faith and only deals Holy damage.
It weighs nothing so makes for a great secondary weapon. It is found in the side room to the left in the same area Mad Tongue Alberich invades at Roundtable Hold.
To get there, go up the big stairs at Roundtable Hold and jump off the balcony, then, enter the door to the left and advance along the left side. At the end of the final room, turn right and loot it off the burnt corpse lying on the bed at the end.
The Cipher Pata is a great Faith scaling weapon when you are just starting out. It is no secret that Faith and similar builds struggle at first due to the spells being insufficient to get them through the brutal first few hours of the game.
The Cipher Pata is your best friend here. With superior Faith scaling and an awesome weapon skill like the Unblockable Blade, the Cipher Pata is a strong contender for one of the best scaling weapons in Elden Ring.
You will have to compromise on range, but these are the sacrifices you will have to make before your Faith build becomes a glass Cannon and shatters everything.
10. Grafted Blade Greatsword
- Physical Attack: 162
- Weight: 21
- Scaling: STR – C, DEX – E
- Required: 40 STR, 14 DEX
- Description: The storied sword of Castle Morne. A revenger’s weapon, it is burdened with oceans of anger and regret.
One of the legendary armaments.
A lone surviving champion from a country now vanished was so determined to continue fighting that he claimed the swords of an entire clan of warriors.
Ending off our list with a BIG boy, we have the Grafted Blade Greatsword. It is a Colossal Sword in Elden Ring that scales primarily with Strength and has a minor scaling with Dexterity.
It is one of the bulkiest quality weapons you could hope to obtain and it has the skills to back that up. The Grafted Blade Greatsword can be obtained by defeating the Leonine Misbegotten boss in Castle Morne at the Weeping Peninsula.
This big boy was made to overcome large beasts and worthy foes that need to be put in their place. The absurdly high Strength requirement only speaks of its quality and the results you can expect once you can wield it.
With an initial C-tier Strength scaling, this Colossal Sword will decimate anything and everything in its path as you level up your Strength. The Oath of Vengeance weapon skill is a phenomenal coupling as it temporarily boosts all stats and Poise, compensating for the slow recovery time and lackluster defensive situation that comes with wielding a giant blade.
That’s all she wrote, folks. These best scaling weapons will give you the most bang for your buck. They are worth looking into and there’s something for everyone in the game, which is why we love Elden Ring. Have fun!
Conclusion
That concludes our guide for the best scaling weapons in Elden Ring. Instead of going the traditional route by stuffing mostly Strength-scaling weapons, we made sure to add a little variety and focus more on Dexterity and Arcane as well, which we feel do not get enough time in the spotlight.
